'telos: no.13' Recycled silver and 9ct ring with Garnet and Sapphire

A beautiful rectangular cut garnet that has been in my collection for 5 years is the main attraction in this twisty recycled metal number. Unique carvings and a few red sapphires and tiny garnets set off this very special one off.

A one off, abstract piece hand forged from recycled silver and 9ct featuring 3 sapphires. This ring has its own unique curves and good reasurring chunkiness without being too much. A deep inner bevel makes it incredibly easy to get on and off and super comfy to wear.

Some women collect handbags. I collect gemstones. It started when I was kid and would spend all my pocket money in the crystal shop on these mixed bags of tumbled stones. Later it would turn into digging massive bits of quartz out of the school garden at lunchtime. Then in 2009 when I embarked upon jewellery making, I finally fell right down the rabbit hole and my 'collection' began.

16 years on and I have some of the most beautiful, unusual stones that have never seen the light of day. I have tied myself in knots trying to think of the perfect designs for them, so much so that it has paralysed me from actually doing anything with them.

So I'm starting a thing. A thing where I take these stones and set them into one off designs that are not considered and created in the very moment of making. I'm going to call this collection 'Telos' which means surrendering to the natural order of things, embracing fate, and trusting that everything is unfolding as it should. The Greeks and Stoics have a lot to say about if you are interested.
